Day 343 of the challenge! Part Shaun of the Dead, Attack the Block, and Tremors, Grabbers offers plenty of creature feature fun!
As I’m sure I’ve mentioned plenty of times over the course of this challenge, I have a soft spot for creature features. They’re fun, creative, creepy, and even the bad ones tend to be entertaining in one way or another (*cough Rampage cough cough).
Grabbers is no different, arranging the usual creature feature parts and tropes in a VERY familiar way. The film makes up for it’s lack of originality with some interesting monster designs and it’s wickedly outrageous British humor (the finale in particular is very Shaun of the Dead). There’s also enough (minimum) time devoted to the characters to keep you invested in them, and the actual story.
It’s not mind blowing, but Grabbers is still a fun and cheeky way to spend an evening, preferably with a six pack of beers near by!
