VIDEO PRODUCTION & POST-PRODUCTION

VISUALS WITH PURPOSE

Video is about more than just coverage. It’s about rhythm and flow. From the high-energy cuts of short-form content to the deliberate pacing of long-form narratives, I build visual stories with close attention to how they feel to watch. Whether I’m creating new work or restoring media, the audience’s viewing experience always comes first.

BRAND IDENTITY & CREATIVE FORMAT

UTEP’s Faculty on Fire Series

Role: Co-Director, Lead Editor, & Graphic/Motion Designer

I direct and lead edit this series, which combines real conversations about teaching with the very bad idea of asking faculty to discuss pedagogy while eating increasingly spicy salsa. Basically Hot Ones, but with salsa and educators. That’s what they wanted, and that’s exactly what our team made. I also developed the show’s visual identity from scratch, creating custom motion graphics and animations to give it a bold, cohesive personality.

UTEP Redefine: Higher Education Campaign

Role: Co-Director, Lead Editor, & Strategic Committee Member

The goal of the series was to spotlight high-impact teaching and innovative practices at UTEP through strong, engaging video. I co-directed the project and served as lead editor on select episodes, while overseeing student editors on others before applying final polish and branding myself. I helped shape the visual narrative and guided the campaign strategy to make sure the work actually reached people across campus. One interesting note about the series is that the early cuts were much more introspective and subdued before we leaned into what I’d describe as a “chaotic, manic snark” style (by design) after feedback from stakeholders.

TECHNICAL POST-PRODUCTION & RESTORATION

Tremors: The Series | Theatrical Remaster

Role: Restoration Artist

I was tasked with remastering select episodes of Tremors: The Series for a theatrical screening at a dedicated Stampede Entertainment film festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico. To prepare the legacy SD digital assets for a cinema environment, I built a custom restoration pipeline focused on creating a natural, comfortable viewing experience, rather than the overly sharpened, artificial look often produced by fully automated AI upscaling. My approach to restoration (and AI in general) is simple: use modern tools to support original work, not to overpower or replace it.

The process involved generating multiple upscaling passes with different upscale models in Topaz Video AI, each selected for what it handled best. I then manually composited the strongest elements from each pass in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, performing detailed retouching to maximize clarity and color while retaining as much of the original “film texture” as possible. Additional audio and visual cleanup was handled in Adobe Audition and Photoshop, addressing artifacts that required some extra care.

The restored episodes were screened theatrically for festival attendees and Stampede Entertainment stakeholders, where the work was experienced as intended on the big screen. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with audiences engaging comfortably with the material and stakeholders expressing enthusiasm for how the series translated to a cinematic setting without losing its original character.

NARRATIVE & LIVE-EVENT PRODUCTION

TEDXUTEP 2019: Access and Excellence

Role: Technical Director, Live Stream Engineer, & Post-Production Supervisor

Our team at UTEP was brought in to capture this marquee event, with me leading the live broadcast workflow. I ran a Sling Studio–based mobile setup, wirelessly integrating a dedicated camera feed along with the house audio feed from the technical booth, and managed the live stream in real time. Meanwhile, the rest of the team covered pre-selected audience angles, with an additional roaming camera to capture dynamic moments throughout the event.

After the event, I worked from the recorded live stream and all available camera and audio sources to edit standalone sessions. I completed the initial edits for a select number of talks, including Zuill Bailey’s, strictly following TED’s branding and delivery guidelines. Once those were finalized, I oversaw a team of student editors, providing assets, templates, and reference cuts to ensure consistency and quality across the remaining sessions.

Integrating Ethics: From Thought to Action

Role: Producer, Co-Director, Lead Editor, & Post-Production Supervisor

Produced in collaboration with the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission, this documentary-style series explores the complexities of human decision-making through deeply personal stories. The profiles span a wide emotional range—from Holocaust survival and military service to public safety, ethics, and personal integrity.

This was a collaborative team effort where I served as co-director and lead editor across the series. I edited several of the films myself and oversaw the post-production of the remaining pieces, ensuring every episode matched the visual language, pacing, and tone we established from the start. Special care was taken to handle each story with restraint, respect, and a cinematic approach appropriate to the subject matter.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CONTENT STUDIO

The University of texas at El Paso: Special Projects

Role: Producer, Co-Director, Lead Editor

This collection pulls together a range of one-off and custom video projects produced during my time at UTEP, separate from the longer-form series featured above. These projects span everything from grant-funded initiatives to high-impact collaborations with partners like the Smithsonian Latino Center and Dr. Skateboard.

While each piece was a standalone request, I approached them with the same level of intention and strategy as a full campaign. In these examples, I served as the video project lead and editor, guiding each project from concept through final delivery and making sure every video felt purposeful, polished, and complete.
