Day 338 of the challenge! The Christmas Chronicles because ‘tis the season and I like Kurt Russell movies. So why not?
I don’t want to say that The Christmas Chronicles is a bad movie per say, but I’m not going to say it’s good. At all. It’s as generic and formulaic as they come (which might be a good thing depending on what you expect from your Christmas movies) and feels like it would be more at home on the Hallmark Channel than Netflix.
Honestly, the only thing that kept me watching The Christmas Chronicles was Kurt Russell’s silver fox take on Santa. His no nonsense (but full of nonsense) portrayal of the big jolly red guy is chock full of that charm and “bad assery” that we can only get from Kurt Russell, so you’re guaranteed a few good chuckles from him (and only him).
But if you like dependable Christmas movies you can watch worry free with the family while you wrap presents or bake cookies, I whole heartily recommend The Christmas Chronicles. It’s a harmless holiday flick that the kids will no doubt love, and it just might have a moment or two for everyone else to enjoy.
